Care for a Cure announces Black Tie Bourbon Gala for Alzheimer's and Breast Cancer

Care for a Cure is pleased to announce their first annual Black Tie and Bourbon Gala Saturday, November 30th, 2019. This gala is benefiting breast cancer and Alzheimer's and will feature a five-course bourbon-themed dinner, entertainment, auctions, and more!

Care for a Cure was founded in 2008 by Dave McGarry. "We got started because my mother had Alzheimer's, and several friends of mine passed away from breast cancer," said Dave McGarry, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Care for a Cure. CARE is a dual-purpose non-profit organization that focuses on both breast cancer and Alzheimer's disease prevention and awareness.

The Black Tie and Bourbon Gala is Care for a Cure's first event of its kind. McGarry said they noticed how popular and trendy bourbon has become, so they decided to have the gala named trademarked and provide a unique event to raise awareness for breast cancer and Alzheimer's. "Our goal for this event is to raise funds for breast cancer and Alzheimer's research and to raise awareness of these diseases," McGarry said.

At the gala, they will be auctioning off hard to acquire bourbons as well as a rare bottle from the 6 millionth barrel of Buffalo Trace bourbon Whiskey. "So many of the bourbons that people want are very limited, making them difficult to find, so it is nice to bring those things together to create a unique and fun event for our causes," said Melinda Brown, Vice President of Operations for Care for a Cure.

The gala will also feature a live auction, silent auction, and Chinese auctions for guests. "We are auctioning off an entire barrel of bourbon from Buffalo Trace and a trip experience to their distillery, which is a once in a lifetime experience. We will also have Steeler items, vacations, jewelry, and lots of good stuff, along with a five-course bourbon-themed meal," said McGarry.

The Black Tie and Bourbon Gala will be held Saturday, November 30th, 2019 from 6 pm-11 pm at the DoubleTree Hotel at 340 Racetrack Rd, Washington, PA 15301.

All proceeds from this event will benefit breast cancer and Alzheimer's disease research and initiative. Tickets for this event can be purchased here. Attendees who wish to book overnight accommodations can visit the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Pittsburgh – Meadow Lands and enter group code "CFC" when checking out online to apply a discount to their room reservations.
